my2k makeup brand

personal project | SP'25
my2k is a personal passion project inspired by my love for 2000s nostalgia and novelty makeup products. Together, I created a fictional brand called my2k, geared at younger adults fashionably inspired by the Y2K era. This brand consists of a line of three products: the Lava Lip Gloss, Flip Ur Lidz Eyeshadow Palette, and the Glowy Eight Balm.

Tools Used: Procreate, Figma
I first started with a preliminary sketch, detailing my goals for the project. I wanted to create a logo, three product designs, and a set of promotional poster advertisements. This allowed me to exercise my skills in branding, graphic design, and product packaging design.
For the product designs, I noted their textures, shades, and how the consumer would interact with them. This allowed me to better plan how I would model them in Blender later.
For the brand logo, I drew inspiration from 2000s Cyber Core, a design style from the 2020s that revived Y2K aesthetics and technology. This was a perfect ode to the goal of the project, to revive Y2K in a 2020s makeup brand.

First Draft Logo Design
I created the vectorized logo in Illustrator. The final design I chose exemplified several elements of Y2K, from the chat bubble to the flip phone antenna. I selected simpler color palette that paid homage to my childhood. Black and hot pink were my two favorite colors when I was young and staple colors of the Y2K era.
The product models were created in Blender, a free 3D modeling software. This was my first major Blender project, so I had to research several tutorials to nail the textures of the packaging.

As pictured above, I composed several experimental renders in which I placed the products in various environments to play with lighting, angles, and texture. This really helped me visualize how the products would exist in real life, and how they would be advertised in a genuine marketing campaign.

Tools Used: Illustrator, Photoshop
To wrap the project up, I imported renders of the product models into Illustrator, in which I designed a set of four promotional posters to advertise each of the products, and them all together in a 2000s-inspired magazine catalog.
Each poster experimented with a slightly different design style, utilizing different fonts, motifs, and compositions. Additionally, I took inspiration from vintage marketing campaigns that spotlighted creative slogans and messaging to appeal to the audience.
